SUMMARY:Introduction - Innovating the Network for Data Intensive Science (
 INDIS)
DESCRIPTION:Workshop\nArchitectures, Networks, Security, Workshop Reg Pass
\n\nIntroduction - Innovating the Network for Data Intensive Science (INDI
S)\n\nGrosso, Hester, Baldin, Zhu\n\nWide area networks are now an integra
l and essential part of this data-driven supercomputing ecosystem connecti
ng information sources, data stores, processing, simulation, visualization
and user communities together. Networks for data-intensive science have
more extreme requirements than general-purpose networks. These requiremen
ts not only closely impact the design of processor interconnects in superc
omputers and cluster computers, but they also impact campus networks, regi
onal networks and national backbone networks. This workshop brings togethe
r the network researchers and innovators to present challenges and novel i
deas that stretch network research and SC’s own innovative network, SCinet
. We invite papers that propose new and novel techniques to present soluti
ons for meeting these networking needs; and developments that are essentia
l in the information systems infrastructure for the scientific discovery p
 rocess.
