SUMMARY:Introduction - The 9th International Workshop on Performance Model
ing, Benchmarking, and Simulation of High-Performance Computer Systems (PM
 BS18)
DESCRIPTION:Workshop\nBenchmarks, Parallel Programming Languages, Librarie
s, and Models, Performance, Simulation, Workshop Reg Pass\n\nIntroduction
 - The 9th International Workshop on Performance Modeling, Benchmarking, an
d Simulation of High-Performance Computer Systems (PMBS18)\n\nWright, Jarv
is, Hammond\n\nThe PMBS18 workshop is concerned with the comparison of hig
h-performance computing systems through performance modeling, benchmarking
or through the use of tools such as simulators. We are particularly inter
ested in research which reports the ability to measure and make tradeoffs
in software/hardware co-design to improve sustained application performanc
 e. We are also keen to capture the assessment of future systems, for examp
le through work that ensures continued application scalability through pet
a- and exa-scale systems.\n\nThe aim of this workshop is to bring together
researchers, from industry and academia, concerned with the qualitative a
nd quantitative evaluation and modeling of high-performance computing syst
ems. Authors are invited to submit novel research in all areas of performa
nce modeling, benchmarking and simulation, and we welcome research that br
ings together current theory and practice. We recognize that the coverage
of the term 'performance' has broadened to include power consumption and r
eliability, and that performance modeling is practiced through analytical
methods and approaches based on software tools and simulators.\n\nPerforma
nce modeling, benchmarking, and simulation will underpin software and hard
ware design choices as we advance towards the exascale era. This workshop
continues to attract high quality input from industry, government, and aca
 demia.
