SUMMARY:Simulating Data Centers with Redfish-Enabled Equipment
DESCRIPTION:Workshop\nHPC Center Planning and Operations, Heterogeneous Sy
stems, Scientific Computing, State of the Practice, Workshop Reg Pass, Dat
 acenter\n\nSimulating Data Centers with Redfish-Enabled Equipment\n\nNosra
ti, Sill, Chen\n\nAnalytic data, such as temperature and power consumption
of equipment, are becoming growingly critical in high-end enterprise and
also in high-performance computing platforms, especially for current petas
cale and future exascale systems on the horizon, consisting of tens of tho
usands or even hundreds of thousands of servers. Also, these data are impo
rtant for accurate and real-time system monitoring. Examining new ideas f
or data gathering, data analysis and systems management by running differe
nt tests against production data center could negatively affect the produc
tion environment and also could have unintentional consequences. For these
reasons, a simulated data center can enable researchers, developers, and
administrators to perform thorough tests before carrying out on a real dat
a center or even to eliminate the need for physical examination. This rese
arch aims to discuss a new methodology and a framework we have developed v
ia using container technology to simulate a scalable data center with Redf
ish-enabled equipment to achieve the objectives.
