SUMMARY:SENSEI Cross-Platform View of In Situ Analytics
DESCRIPTION:Tutorial\nData Analytics, Data Management, Productivity, Visua
lization, Tutorial Reg Pass\n\nSENSEI Cross-Platform View of In Situ Analy
tics\n\nBethel, Thompson, Loring, Rizzi, Whitlock...\n\nThis tutorial cove
rs the design and use of SENSEI, a platform for in situ visualization and
analysis. For simulation developers, you can instrument your code with the
SENSEI simulation API and gain access to a wide variety of I/O, analysis,
and visualization tools. For tool developers, you can add support for the
SENSEI analysis API and support a wide range of simulations.\n\nAttendees
will learn the basics of in situ analysis and visualization — which elimi
nates the need for writing large simulation state files or other data that
prevents scaling to large machines — while being exposed to advanced anal
ysis such as autocorrelation, interactive monitoring, and computational st
eering. We'll demonstrate how simulations can couple to ADIOS, Henson, Par
aView Catalyst, and VisIt Libsim through the SENSEI platform in order to t
o gain insight from simulation data even when it is increasingly impractic
al to save it to persistent storage.\n\nThe tutorial will include a hands-
on session that uses a virtual machine to demonstrate SENSEI features. Ple
ase download it before SC18 from https://www.sensei-insitu.org/ ; it will
 be available in early November.
