SUMMARY:Innovative Approaches for Developing Accessible, Productive, Scala
 ble HPC Training
DESCRIPTION:Panel\nTech Program Reg Pass\n\nInnovative Approaches for Deve
loping Accessible, Productive, Scalable HPC Training\n\nCollis, Barker, Ma
rques, Arenaz, Filinger...\n\nAs the provision of HPC rapidly increases, a
n increasing number of application domains and users are becoming interest
ed in the potential that HPC can unlock for their field. This is creating
an urgent need for scalable, accessible training to ensure effective use o
f resources. The majority of current training for HPC is still provided to
domain-experts by computers scientists in a classroom environment. This n
ecessarily limits both the scalability of the training and the tailoring o
f the training to the needs of domains new to HPC. This panel will focus o
n innovative approaches to improve the learning experience for domain-expe
rts and how to reach an ever increasingly diverse and dispersed audience.\
n\nTopics covered will include using new tools and teaching methods, wheth
er hackathons are useful for the non-specialists, and the need for providi
ng training that recognizes the needs of a diverse population, including h
ow to improve access for underrepresented groups.
