SUMMARY:Workloads and Benchmarks for System Acquisition
DESCRIPTION:Birds of a Feather\nState of the Practice, Tech Program Reg Pa
ss, Exhibits Reg Pass, Exhibits - Exhibit Hall Only Reg Pass\n\nWorkloads
and Benchmarks for System Acquisition\n\nBright, Brown, Neeman, Younts\n\n
New HPC systems must balance storage, networking, and computational power
to meet the different needs of its user base and intended usage. Governmen
t agencies, universities, and companies invest significant time, effort, a
nd money when evaluating and acquiring new HPC systems. Unfortunately, man
y of these evaluations are duplicated from site-to-site. This BoF aims to
start a best-practices collaboration between HPC sites to reduce the effor
t required to make good system evaluations. This session’s leaders will e
ngage with the audience to discuss practical solutions to system benchmark
ing and evaluation for acquisition purposes.
