Biography
Mr. Bland is the Program Director of the Oak Ridge Leadership Computing Facility at Oak Ridge National Laboratory. He is responsible for delivering major compute, storage, and data analysis systems to support the needs of an international user community. Mr. Bland has spent 33 years at ORNL, all working in high-performance computing. Mr. Bland is a Senior Member of the IEEE. In 2018 he was awarded the Secretary of Energy's Appreciation Award for "leadership in delivering high performance computing resources to address the Nation's science and engineering challenges across a wide array of disciplines". He received his B.S. and M.S. in Computer Science from the University of Southern Mississippi and spent 4 years as an officer in the U.S. Air Force managing their first Cray-1 supercomputer.
